December Giving Makes Us Human:

Did you know that neither Congress nor the Executive Branch has officially dedicated any of our twelve months to acts of volunteerism or charitable giving? December provides us a very special opportunity to celebrate those individuals, groups and organizations who invest their lives in charity. As you know, nonprofits provide critical relief to the hurting, hungry and helpless, develop support for much needed social reforms and improve every aspect of civil society including health, the arts and education. These “impact” organizations encourage civic engagement and challenge our citizens to implement heroic missions of scale that transform our communities. We're pleased to share that our U.S. Senators, Congressman and the White House will offer a legislative resolution proclaiming December to be National Giving Month upon receiving 10,000 signatures from people who believe in charity.

December is National Giving Month:

  • LAST YEAR AMERICANS GAVE $410.2 BILLION TO CHARITY (BREAKING ALL PREVIOUS RECORDS)
  • ONE THIRD (31%) OF ANNUAL GIVING OCCURS IN DECEMBER
  • 12% OF ALL GIVING HAPPENS IN THE LAST THREE DAYS OF THE YEAR
  • 28% OF NONPROFITS RAISE AS MUCH AS 50% OF THEIR FUNDING IN DECEMBER

Our generosity demonstrates that even in divisive times our commitment to charity is secure. Charitable giving increases each year, signaling that our friends give according to their beliefs and interests, which are both diverse and wide-ranging.
